WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING OPPORTUNITIES AND POSITIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEW ROSS.
Our work is all about creating new opportunities and positive learning experiences for young people that contribute to individual wellbeing and health. We aim to create a meaningful and nurturing space where young people can explore their identity, issues affecting them in a sensitive environment and develop tools that can support their resilience and inform positive future decision making. Through this process we explore how in building our personal resilience we have greater capacity to contribute to healthier communities. We believe that healthier individuals contribute to healthier communities which in-turn contributes to a healthier planet for everyone.
There are strong elements of inter-cultural learning exchange in our activities also. We believe that developing an intercultural understand that promotes empathy and diversity supports the wellbeing of the greater community. Our work promotes the ability to think about issues from different perspectives and acceptance of difference.
Methodologies used include blended learning opportunities in a non -formal educational context. Programmes are designed in consultation with young people and aims to facilitate the development of tools and methods to support them to build resilience in dealing with challenges and stress in their lives. Activities include arts & outdoor educational activities, healthy eating and cookery workshops, sexual health and consent workshops, mindfulness and movement workshops.
We hope that combined; these approaches, methods & opportunities will create space for a holistic and transformative experience for the young people involved contributing to the development of healthy values and practices and good mental health; that includes improvement self-esteem and confidence in articulation and responding to their own needs. It will also empower the young people to be contributing social beings to our local community and beyond. We hope we can support a strong sense of belonging and create an inclusive, non- judgemental environment that welcomes everyone.
